Spring prep sports roundup
Mother nature didn’t play fair this week, but here are recaps from local action.
Indian Land thumps Stallions: The Indian Land girls soccer team easily beat the South Pointe Stallions, 10-1, on April 9. Nyla Mansell scored four goals, Zoie Kempf added three goals, Ashlyn Yasurek scored twice and Hannah Nerdinsky dropped a goal in for Indian Land. The win puts the Warriors at 10-3 overall and 7-1 in Region 3-4A.
Lancaster boys fall: The Lancaster boys soccer fell to Catawba Ridge 4-1 on April 9. The loss dropped them to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in Region 3-4A.
Buford wins in PKs: The Buford boys soccer team beat Lewisville 4-2 in penalty kicks after ending regulation and overtime scoreless in the April 9 match. The win puts Buford at 7-7 on the season.
Vols shutout: The Andrew Jackson boys soccer team fell 2-0 to Region 5-2A foe Cheraw on April 10. The loss drops them to 4-1 in the region.
Bruins fall hard: The Lancaster Bruins softball team lost 19-1 to Catawba Ridge on April 9. The Bruins were no-hit in the contest and dropped to 4-3 in Region 3-4A and 5-4 overall.
Warriors dominate South Pointe: The Indian Land Warriors beat South Pointe, 27-4, in five innings after scoring 13 runs in the top of the fifth inning on April 8.
Seven Indian Land players had two hits each and Leah Birkner went 3-5 with five RBIs in the win. Birkner, Logan Thomas and Amelia White all hit home runs in the win.
