The Catalinas are coming back to Camden for the Historic Camden Shag Club’s annual Cruisin’ into Summer event on Saturday, May 4.
The Catalinas formed in 1957 at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C. The band’s popularity is based primarily in southeastern United States. They are one of the most sought-after beach music bands around the Southeast, and their music is played on radio stations in other countries such as the United Kingdom, Greece and Australia, just to name a few.
Known for their quality, tight sound and energy onstage, they are one of the “in demand” groups for city festivals, weddings and private parties. Though known for Beach Music, regionally and nationally for the mega hit Summertime’s Callin’ Me, The Catalinas play all styles to a high standard of excellence.
“Many of us who graduated from high school in the late 1960s and early 1970s had The Catalinas play for our proms when they had their first hit, You Haven’t the Right," Shag Club representatives said. “We are very fortunate to have such a high-quality band to play for our Cruisin’ into Summer event this year.”
