LANCASTER, S.C. — Calling all Lancaster County photographers! The Lancaster County Council of the Arts is now accepting submissions for the annual Red Rose Photography Exhibit and Contest.
The deadline to submit entries is Friday, May 3.
Held annually, this collaboration between the city of Lancaster and the LCCA features Lancaster County photographers and subjects. From delicate details to expansive landscapes, this exhibit reveals the unique points of view of our local photographers.
Embark on a journey through time and memory with this year’s contest theme, “Capturing the Essence: Nostalgia in Lancaster County.” This theme seeks to uncover the hidden gems and treasured memories that lie within the landscapes, streets and people of our community.
Whether it’s the fading facades of historic buildings, echoes of the past in modern settings, or the timeless rituals of local traditions, the LCCA encourages photographers to capture moments that resonate with the soul and transport viewers to another time.
“Along with the Marian Hagins Art Competition we hold each Fall, the Red Rose Photography Competition is always one of the yearly traditions we look forward to,” says LCCA Executive Director Eric Grace. “The tremendous amount of talent of local resident photographers always surprises and delights. I think this competition gives us a great opportunity to see through the eyes of our neighbors all the things that make our community a great place.”
The deadline for photo submissions is Friday, May 3. All photographers are asked to use the online submission form on artslancaster.com and read submission instructions carefully. Photographers are required to submit both a digital and hard copy of their work by the deadline to participate.
All submissions will be on view at the Red Rose Festival on Saturday, May 18, and the public is encouraged to vote for their favorite for the People’s Choice Award. Winners will be announced during the festival and will receive prizes, courtesy of the city of Lancaster.
